Welcome to Arizona Theatre Matters’ programming for children. MISS KING READS is an aloud reading program for children (though a lot of adults enjoy it, too!). It’s a terrific program for parents and kids to watch together. We donate copies of each book to 10 schools – if you’d like to nominate a school, please send us an email, tell us about the school and be sure to include the mailing address and a website, if possible.

MEET MISS KING!

Samantha King is Associate Artistic Director of Arizona Theatre Matters. Those of you who have been with us a while will remember her from our Lock Down Era productions of A Midsummer Night’s Dream as Hippolyta and Titania and Pineapple and Other Options as Helen (to be launched this season on our YouTube channel). She is director of When Churchyards Yawn (currently in post-production) in which she also plays the coveted role of The Gatekeeper. Sam has been teaching theatre in New Orleans public schools since 2000. Trained in Arts Integration at the University of Tennessee Chattanooga, she worked for 14 years with elementary and middle school students at Lusher Charter School, and high school students at Edna Karr. She is also a member of The Greater New Orleans Writing Project and has taught Creative Writing at Tulane’s Upward Bound program. She hails from northern California, where she studied at the American Conservatory Theatre, The Academy of Media and Theatre Arts, and the American Academy of Dramatic Arts.
